1922 High Relief Peace Dollar Pawn Stars

Okay, let's be honest. We all love Pawn Stars. Who hasn't dreamed of uncovering a hidden treasure? Or maybe just arguing with Rick about its true value.
The 1922 High Relief Peace Dollar: Overhyped?
Here's my unpopular opinion: The 1922 High Relief Peace Dollar on Pawn Stars? Kinda…overhyped? Don't get me wrong; it's a beautiful coin. But is it REALLY worth all the fuss?
I mean, every time one shows up on TV, the experts go wild. "Oh, it's so rare!" "A true piece of history!" I get it, but are we forgetting something?
A Coin Collector's Confession
Full disclosure: I’m not a serious coin collector. My knowledge comes mostly from watching too much Pawn Stars, let's be real. But even I know a little bit about coin grading and value.
And it seems like every other episode features someone trying to sell a Peace Dollar. Usually with a sob story and dreams of early retirement.
Rick always calls in an expert, of course. The expert always says something like, "This is an *extremely* rare specimen!" Then they lowball the seller.
Is Rick Always Right?
Rick drives a hard bargain. That's why we love him (and sometimes hate him). But sometimes, I think he benefits from the hype surrounding certain items.
The 1922 High Relief Peace Dollar? Definitely one of those items. It’s got a cool story, designed by Anthony de Francisci, and represents peace after World War I.
But so do a lot of coins! And not all of them come with the hefty price tag.
Let's Talk Actual Value
Look, I know rarity drives value. Mint condition drives value. Historical significance drives value. But the Pawn Stars effect REALLY drives value.
Think about it: How many regular folks even KNEW about the 1922 High Relief Peace Dollar before the show? Probably not that many.
Now, everyone thinks they have a fortune sitting in their attic. Thanks, Rick! (But seriously, thanks. We love the show.)
My Unpopular Opinion, Repeated
So, to reiterate my original, possibly blasphemous, opinion: The 1922 High Relief Peace Dollar gets too much love. Especially on Pawn Stars.
It's a nice coin. I wouldn't kick it out of bed. But is it worth getting into a shouting match with Rick Harrison? Maybe not.
Maybe I’m just jealous I don't have one. Or maybe I’m right. You decide.
"I'm Rick Harrison, and this is my pawn shop. I work here with my old man and my son, Big Hoss. Everything in here has a story and a price. In 21 years, I've learned one thing: you never know WHAT is gonna come through that door."
Classic Pawn Stars. Classic Rick. Never change.
What's YOUR Unpopular Opinion?
What do you think? Am I completely off base? Are 1922 High Relief Peace Dollars the holy grail of numismatics? Or are they just another shiny coin with a good marketing team?
Let me know in the comments! Just please, be nice. I bruise easily.
And if you happen to have one you want to sell… maybe give Rick a call first. Just kidding… mostly.
