A Lull In The Sea Characters

Okay, let's talk about A Lull in the Sea. A beautiful anime, sure. But the characters? Some opinions might ruffle some feathers.
Manaka: Sweet or… Just There?
Everyone loves Manaka. She's cute. She's kind. But honestly, sometimes she felt like a plot device wearing a school uniform.
Did she really do much besides blush and cry? Maybe that's just me being cynical.
Hikari: The Tsundere We Sort Of Love?
Hikari's got that classic tsundere thing going on. He yells. He blushes. He cares... eventually.
But all that yelling? Can get a bit much, even for a cartoon fish-person.
He needs to chill a little. Or maybe just drink some chamomile tea.
The Love Triangle (Quadrangle? Pentagon?) From Hell
Oh boy, the love web. It's tangled like a fishing net after a hurricane.
Tsumugu is the mysterious guy everyone crushes on. He is always there, but does he have an opinion?
Chisaki deserves a medal. Seriously, she's the glue holding everyone together. And often getting the short end of the stick.
Then there's Kaname. Oh, sweet Kaname. Always the observer. Always quietly suffering.
Miuna: Growing Up Way Too Fast
Miuna goes from adorable little kid to… well, a less little, still adorable kid with some seriously complex feelings.
Her crush on Hikari is understandable, but the poor girl has to deal with a lot of grown-up drama way too young.
Someone get her an ice cream cone and a hug, stat.
Akari: The Unsung Heroine
Now, here’s a controversial opinion: Akari is the best character. She deals with prejudice, societal expectations, and a whole lot of family drama.
She is a brave woman to marry someone from the sea.
And she still manages to be a supportive mom and a generally awesome person. Akari deserves more love!
Uroko-sama: The Scaly Comic Relief
Uroko-sama is there for the comic relief. He's a scaled familiar. He’s perverted. He’s... well, he’s something.
He may be annoying, but he provides some lighter moments in a world of teenage angst and underwater politics.
I always felt his character was unnecessary in some instances, but also a welcomed break from the drama.
Final Thoughts (Before the Sea Swallows Me Whole)
Look, A Lull in the Sea is a great anime. The animation is stunning, the story is compelling, and the music is beautiful.
But some of the characters? They're… polarizing. At least for me.
Maybe you agree. Maybe you think I'm totally off my rocker. Either way, thanks for reading my little character rant.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I hear the tide calling.
