Above The Cheep Cheep Seas Star Coins

Okay, let's talk Star Coins. Those shiny, collectible things in the Cheep Cheep Seas of New Super Mario Bros. U. Are they actually… good?
Unpopular Opinion Incoming
Brace yourselves. I think those Star Coins? Overrated.
I know, I know! Heresy, right? But hear me out.
The Underwater Maze
The levels themselves are pretty. Coral reefs and bubbly currents. The Cheep Cheep Seas aesthetic is undeniably charming.
But finding those Star Coins sometimes feels like a chore. I mean, seriously, who enjoys swimming through endless seaweed?
Especially when one wrong move leads to a school of angry Cheep Cheeps. Talk about stressful sightseeing!
The Physics Problem
Let's be honest: underwater physics can be a pain. Jumping feels like wading through molasses.
Trying to perfectly time a jump for a Star Coin in those conditions? Frustration level: expert.
It's like the game is actively trying to prevent you from grabbing that shiny trinket. Why must you torment me, Nintendo?
Hidden... a Little *Too* Well?
Some Star Coins are cleverly hidden. I appreciate a good challenge.
But others? They're practically invisible! Tucked away in the most obscure corners of the map.
I end up spending more time staring at the screen, pixel-hunting, than actually enjoying the level. Is that really fun?
The Reward? Eh...
Okay, so you finally snagged all three Star Coins. What do you get?
Usually, a new shortcut or access to a secret level. Which is cool, I guess.
But honestly, sometimes the reward just doesn't feel worth the effort. It's like, "Oh, I suffered for *that*?"
Maybe I'm Just Bad
I will concede one point: maybe I just need to "git gud." Perhaps my underwater maneuvering skills are lacking.
Maybe true Mario masters relish the challenge of these hidden coins. I salute you if you do!
But for the average player like me, the Cheep Cheep Seas Star Coins can feel more like a tedious obligation than a fun bonus.
Don't Get Me Wrong
Look, New Super Mario Bros. U is a fantastic game. And the Cheep Cheep Seas are visually appealing.
I just think the Star Coin placement in these levels could be a little less… infuriating.
So, next time you're swimming through those underwater mazes, cursing the physics, remember: you're not alone. We can suffer together. Happy collecting (maybe?)!
Just a Thought
Maybe the real treasure wasn't the Star Coins, but the friends we made along the way. (Just kidding! I still want those coins.)
But seriously, Nintendo, a *little* less seaweed next time, please?
Thank you for coming to my Star Coin Ted Talk.
