Alice Liddell in this version is no shrinking violet. She's got opinions, she's sassy, and she's not afraid to tell everyone what she thinks.

It's refreshing to see an Alice who's not just wandering around passively waiting for things to happen. She's making choices (mostly bad ones, let's be honest), but she's still active.

And can we talk about her internal monologues? They're pure gold. She's constantly questioning the sanity of everyone around her (and rightly so).

The Heart Pirates and Mad Hatters... Oh My!

Look, I'm not saying it's a masterpiece of storytelling. But it's entertaining. There's a clear line drawn between the Hatter and Heart territory where some characters reside.

Peter White is creepy... but strangely compelling. The Mad Hatter is absolutely bonkers but also kind of sympathetic. The dynamic between them and Alice just works!

And let's not forget about the Cheshire Cat! He's as enigmatic as ever, but with a definite romantic edge. Because, you know, why not?

Guilty Pleasure or Genuine Fun?

Maybe it's the escapism. Maybe it's the pretty boys. Maybe it's the sheer absurdity of it all. Whatever the reason, I find myself strangely drawn to Country of Hearts.

It's not high art. It's not going to win any literary awards. But it's a fun, fluffy read that doesn't take itself too seriously.

And sometimes, that's exactly what I need. So, yeah, I like it. Sue me!
