Anime Cosplay For 12 Year Olds

Okay, cosplaying as your favorite anime character? Seriously awesome. But where do you even BEGIN when you're, say, twelve? Don't worry, it's way less intimidating than battling a Titan! Let's dive in!
Finding Your Character
First things first: who are you gonna BE? Pick a character you LOVE. Like, REALLY love. It's no fun dressing up as someone you're "meh" about, is it?
Think about what's realistic. A character with super complicated armor and a ten-foot sword might be a bit much for your first attempt. Maybe start with someone from a school anime, or a character with simpler clothes!
Pro tip: Characters with normal hair colors? A gift from the cosplay gods! Less wig-related stress.
DIY Cosplay: Unleash Your Inner Artist!
Forget expensive costumes! Your closet and local craft store are your best friends! Seriously, the stuff you can create is magical.
Jeans and a t-shirt can be the base for tons of characters. Add a few accessories, maybe some iron-on patches, and BAM! Instant anime transformation!
Hot glue is your secret weapon. Use it wisely! And always ask a grown-up for help with it, because burns are NOT a good cosplay accessory.
Super Simple Cosplay Ideas:
Need inspiration? We've got you covered! These are practically foolproof.
Uraraka Ochaco from *My Hero Academia*: Pink cheeks, a cute smile, and her school uniform (easy to copy with similar pieces). Go Plus Ultra!
Ash Ketchum from *Pokemon*: Blue jacket, jeans, a hat – you probably already own half of this! Just add a Pikachu plushie and you're set!
Kiki from *Kiki's Delivery Service*: A simple black dress, a big red bow, and a broom. Bonus points if you bring a black cat!
Wigs: Taming the Beast (Hopefully)
Wigs can be tricky, but they add so much to a cosplay! Don't be scared! (Okay, maybe a little scared. They tangle easily.)
Brush your wig before and after wearing it! This will save you from a tangled nightmare later. Trust me on this one!
If the wig is too long, ask a grown-up to help you trim it. Or, you can style the wig differently.
Makeup Magic
Even simple makeup can make a huge difference! You don't need to go full-on stage makeup. A little eyeliner and lip gloss go a long way!
Practice your makeup beforehand! You don't want to accidentally draw your eyebrows on upside down *right* before the convention.
Consider using eyeshadow for characters with a little color around their eyes! It's less harsh than eyeliner for younger skin.
The Most Important Thing: Have Fun!
Cosplay is all about expressing your love for anime! Don't stress about being perfect. The point is to have fun and be creative!
Strike a pose! Show off your hard work! And most importantly, be proud of what you've created!
Don't forget to smile! Your enthusiasm is the best accessory you can wear. Go rock that cosplay!
Remember: Cosplay is for everyone, no matter your age or skill level!
