Attack On Titan Season 2 Overview

Okay, let's be real. Attack on Titan Season 2. Remember that?
It came after a *long* wait. Like, did we even know if it was still happening?
Titans, Walls, and a Whole Lotta 'Huh?'
Season 2 throws us right back into the thick of it. More Titans. More screaming. More questionable strategic decisions by the Scout Regiment.
The story gets way more complicated. Walls have secrets. People have secrets. Titans *definitely* have secrets. It's secret soup, basically.
And speaking of the walls... Colossal Titan inside? What a twist!
Ymir: The Titan Who's... Kind Of Awesome?
Okay, unpopular opinion time: Ymir is the best part of Season 2. Fight me.
She's a Titan with a tragic backstory. Plus, her Titan form is pretty darn cool. And she cares about Krista/Historia. What’s not to love?
Yes, I know she kidnapped people. But like, have you *seen* the world they live in? Everyone's making questionable choices!
The Beast Titan: Hairy and Scary
Then there's the Beast Titan. Dude looks like a giant, furry ape. And he can talk.
He also throws rocks with deadly accuracy. I’m suddenly concerned about my chances of winning a game of dodgeball with him.
The mystery around him is thick. Where did he come from? What's his deal? Does he use conditioner?
The Pace: Slow Burn or Just... Slow?
Alright, let's address the elephant in the room. Season 2 is... slower than Season 1. Like, a *lot* slower.
There's more talking. More backstory. More staring intensely at things. Which, fine, character development is important.
But sometimes you just want to see some Titans get wrecked, you know? I miss the simpler times of season one.
Reiner and Bertholdt: Betrayal... Or Bro-trayal?
Oh, the betrayal! Reiner and Bertholdt drop the bombshell that they're the Colossal and Armored Titans. Shocker!
Their confession scene is iconic. But also, incredibly awkward. Like, "Hey Eren, wanna come with us and destroy humanity?" Smooth, guys.
Suddenly, everything we thought we knew is wrong. Trust no one, kids. Especially not blonde guys who seem a little *too* friendly.
Final Thoughts: A Necessary Evil (or a Delightful Slow-Cooker?)
Season 2 isn't perfect. It has pacing issues. It asks more questions than it answers. It leaves you hanging off a cliff... literally.
But it's essential for the Attack on Titan story. It builds the world. It deepens the characters. It sets the stage for the insanity to come.
Maybe it's a slow burn. Maybe it's a little boring at times. But it's still Attack on Titan. And that's enough for me (and Ymir!).
It definitely has some great moments. The reveal of Historia's history is one example. Makes you wonder about the whole royal family!
So, even if you weren't blown away by Season 2, give it some credit. It's the bridge between the action-packed beginning and the mind-bending future.
