Call Of The Night Volume 16

Okay, let's talk Call of the Night. Specifically, Volume 16. Ready for some possibly controversial opinions?
The Night is Ending? Say It Ain't So!
So, things are getting pretty serious, right? Like, "end of the series" serious. I'm not crying, you're crying!
We’ve spent so much time wandering the night with Ko Yamori and Nazuna Nanakusa. I'm emotionally invested in their weird, nocturnal adventures.
Is it just me, or is the ending feeling...rushed? Like we're sprinting to a finish line instead of enjoying the night air.
The Stakes Are High (Maybe Too High?)
Suddenly, everyone's all about saving the world. I mean, cool, but wasn't this manga about a kid who couldn't sleep and a chill vampire?
The power levels are rising. Does anyone else feel like we accidentally wandered into a shonen battle manga?
I miss the simpler times. Remember when the biggest problem was finding a good vending machine?
Nazuna's Still the Best, Though
Let’s be real, Nazuna is the reason we're all here. That hasn’t changed in Volume 16.
She's still effortlessly cool, mysterious, and surprisingly insightful. Can we all agree she deserves a medal?
I do worry about her though. This whole vampire-extermination plotline seems tailor-made for some serious angst.
The Side Characters...Are Still There
Remember those side characters we met along the way? Yeah, they're around. Doing stuff.
Honestly, I sometimes forget their names. Sorry, not sorry. My brain only has room for Nazuna and late-night convenience store snacks.
I guess they're important to the plot? Probably. I'm too busy hoping for a Nazuna spin-off series.
Is It Just Me, or...?
Okay, here's the big one. The unpopular opinion that might get me cancelled.
Is Call of the Night losing some of its charm? I feel like the focus has shifted away from the slice-of-life, nighttime vibes. That's what hooked me in the first place!
Don’t get me wrong, the plot is interesting. But I’m getting less chill vibes and more "urgent, world-ending crisis" vibes. Which, you know, isn't as relaxing to read before bed.
I Still Love It (Kinda)
Despite my minor gripes, I’m still gonna read the ending. Obviously.
I need to know what happens to Ko and Nazuna. I’ve invested too much time (and money) to back out now.
Plus, there's always the chance that Volume 17 will be a surprise return to form. Here's hoping for more vending machine adventures and less vampire wars!
Final Thoughts (And a Plea)
Call of the Night Volume 16 is...well, it's a volume. It exists.
It has plot, it has characters, it has vampires. All the necessary ingredients are there.
But I can't help but feel a little bittersweet about it. I'm ready to see how it ends, but I'm also going to miss those aimless, nocturnal wanderings. Let’s hope Kotoyama ends it with a bang!
Anyone else feel the same way? Or am I just being a grumpy night owl?
