Croods 2 I Think I Love You

Okay, folks, let's get real. I have a confession to make. It's about a movie. A movie that maybe, just maybe, I liked a *little* too much.
Specifically, I'm talking about The Croods: A New Age. Yes, Croods 2. I know, I know! Hear me out.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
Let's be honest. Sequels can be... well, they can be rough. Often feeling like a cash grab. But something about Croods 2 just clicked with me.
Maybe it was the absurdity. Perhaps the bright colors. Or, dare I say it, maybe it was the surprisingly good story!
Don't get me wrong, The Croods was charming enough. A prehistoric family learning to adapt. Good stuff. But the sequel? It went to another level.
The Punch Monkeys Stole My Heart
Seriously, those Punch Monkeys were hilarious! A whole society of bananas! I actually found myself laughing out loud.
And who can forget the Thunder Sisters? Girl power to the max! They were fierce and fun and completely over-the-top.
The whole setup was brilliant. The Croods meet the Bettermans. A "civilized" family. Complete with running water and separate bedrooms.
Cue the culture clash! Eep and Dawn became instant besties. Guy faced parental pressure. It was all surprisingly relatable.
Guy's Got Me Questioning My Priorities
Okay, maybe not *everything* was relatable. I don't live in a treehouse. Nor do I fight giant chickens (thankfully!).
But Guy's struggle with his past? His feeling of obligation? That hit close to home. I think many of us can relate to that.
Plus, he's just so darn cute! But, that's beside the point... or maybe it's *the* point?
Better Than the Original? (Gasp!)
I know, I know. Saying a sequel is better than the original is blasphemy! But I said what I said. Croods 2 felt fresher.
The addition of the Bettermans added so much to the dynamic. Phil and Hope were wonderfully annoying. Their passive-aggressiveness? Chef's kiss!
And their obsession with "civilization"? So much for being better. Turns out living in a fancy house doesn't make you a good person.
Honestly, the storyline, while wacky, had some real depth. It touched on themes of acceptance, family, and staying true to yourself. Plus, it looked amazing. The animation was vibrant and dynamic. A real visual treat!
Don't Judge Me!
Look, I'm not saying it's a cinematic masterpiece. It's a cartoon! But it's a darn good one. I think DreamWorks did a spectacular job.
So, the next time you're scrolling through streaming services, give Croods 2 a chance. You might be surprised.
Maybe, just maybe, you'll find yourself thinking, "Hey, I think I love you, Croods 2!" Or at least, "That wasn't as bad as I thought it would be."
Okay, that's all I got. Let the hate comments begin! But seriously, give those Punch Monkeys a chance.
