Danielle Nicolet 3rd Rock From The Sun

Remember that feeling when you discovered a show that just *got* you? For me, and probably for a lot of you, 3rd Rock from the Sun was that show.

And while the aliens-trying-to-be-human antics were hilarious, let's talk about one of the unsung heroes: Danielle Nicolet.

Who is Danielle Nicolet? (Besides Awesome)

Okay, okay, so maybe she wasn't the *main* alien. But Danielle Nicolet, playing Caryn in seasons 4 and 5, added a whole new layer of fun! She was the sassy, grounded, and utterly relatable girlfriend of Tommy Solomon (a.k.a. Joseph Gordon-Levitt's teen angst personified).

Caryn was the normal one, trying to navigate the chaos of the Solomon family. Imagine dating someone whose family thinks gravity is a suggestion and constantly misuses idioms. I'd need a drink!

Seriously, she deserves a medal for staying sane.

Caryn: The Voice of Reason (and Teenage Angst)

What I loved about Caryn was that she was so... normal. She was the audience's surrogate, reacting to the alien antics with the same bewildered amusement (and occasional exasperation) that we felt. It was like she was speaking for all of us.

Tommy was trying to figure out girls, feelings, and basically everything that comes with being a teenager, and Caryn was right there with him (or sometimes pulling him back from the brink of total alien-induced disaster). Talk about commitment!

Think of her as the Robin to Tommy's Batman, but way more likely to roll her eyes and say, "Tommy, what are you doing?!"

Beyond 3rd Rock: Danielle's Continued Awesomeness

Good news, folks: Danielle Nicolet didn't just disappear after 3rd Rock from the Sun! She's been busy kicking butt in tons of other awesome projects.

She's been a regular on Born Again Virgin, The Flash (as Cecile Horton, everyone's favorite empathic D.A.), and even voiced characters in animated hits like Young Justice. Talk about range!

Basically, she's a chameleon, popping up in all sorts of genres and nailing every role. Seriously, check out her filmography. You'll be impressed.

Why We Still Love Her

So, why am I so enthusiastic about Danielle Nicolet's role in 3rd Rock? Because she was relatable, hilarious, and brought a much-needed dose of sanity to a show about aliens pretending to be human.

She proved that even in the face of intergalactic weirdness, love and laughter can conquer all. Plus, she had amazing 90s fashion sense. Let's be real, those outfits were iconic.
