Ducktales Attack Of The 50 Foot Webby

Webby's Growth Spurt: An Unpopular DuckTales Opinion
Okay, let's talk about something slightly controversial. It's about a certain episode. You know, the one with the giant Webby Vanderquack.
I'm talking about "Attack of the 50-Foot Webby!". Don't get me wrong, it's a fun episode. But does anyone else think it's... a little much?
Giant Webby: Fun or Farcical?
The whole premise is wild, right? Webby accidentally gets zapped by a growth ray. Next thing you know, she's towering over Duckburg!
It's classic cartoon logic. But sometimes, I wonder if it pushes the boundaries a bit too far. Even for DuckTales.
We all love a good "monster movie" parody. But turning sweet, innocent Webby into a destructive giant? I'm not so sure.
Scrooge's Reaction: Priceless or Problematic?
Of course, Scrooge McDuck's reaction is gold. He's worried about the property damage, naturally! His money bin is at stake, after all.
But shouldn't he be more concerned about Webby? She's clearly distressed by the whole situation. Maybe a little empathy, Scrooge?
I know, I know, he cares deep down. It's just his tough exterior. Still, it always struck me as a bit... off.
The Science of It All (Or Lack Thereof)
Let's not even get started on the science. Or the complete and utter lack of it! Growth rays? Really?
I understand it's a cartoon. Logic isn't exactly the priority. Still, a little internal consistency would be nice.
But hey, maybe I'm overthinking it. It's just a fun, silly episode, right?
The Villains: Forgettable or Fitting?
Were there even villains in this episode? Or was it just Webby battling her own gigantism?
I honestly can't remember. Which probably says something about the quality of the antagonists. Not every episode can be a Magica De Spell showcase.
Maybe that's part of the problem. The lack of a strong villain. The episode focuses too much on the spectacle of a giant Webby. Not the story.
Webby's Character: Enhanced or Diminished?
Does being a giant add anything to Webby's character? Or does it just reduce her to a plot device?
I'd argue it's the latter. We don't really learn anything new about her. Except that she looks adorable when she's fifty feet tall.
I prefer Webby when she's being clever and resourceful. Not just... big.
A Fun Episode, But Not the Best
Ultimately, "Attack of the 50-Foot Webby!" is entertaining. But in my humble opinion, it's not the strongest DuckTales episode.
It relies too much on a silly premise. It doesn't develop Webby's character in any meaningful way.
Am I alone in thinking this? Let me know! Maybe I'm just being a grumpy old duck.
Don't get me wrong. I still love DuckTales. I just think some episodes are better than others. This one falls into the "good, but not great" category.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch "Duckworth's Revolt". Now that's a classic!
