Hawaii Five 0 Season 10 Episode 22

Okay, let's talk about Hawaii Five-0. Specifically, the Season 10 finale, episode 22. "Aloha." Yeah, the one everyone cried about.
Don't get me wrong. It had its moments. But am I the only one who thought it was...a *little* overhyped?
The "Emotional" Goodbye
Everyone was all choked up about the farewells. Steve McGarrett leaving. Danny saying goodbye. Sniffle, sniffle.
But honestly, after ten seasons, did we *really* think Hawaii Five-0 was going to end any other way? It's Hawaii! It's beautiful! Someone's gotta leave dramatically at sunset. Right?
Maybe it's just me. I'm a sucker for the action. Give me a good car chase over a tearful hug any day.
The Case of the Week (Who Remembers?)
Remember the actual crime they solved? Something about stolen explosives, right? Anyone?
It was like the writers knew everyone was just there for the goodbyes. The plot was...secondary. A background hum to the emotional symphony.
I mean, I'm pretty sure they could have been chasing a runaway pineapple and it wouldn't have mattered.
Danny and Steve: A Bromance For the Ages
Okay, even *I* teared up a little at the Danny and Steve stuff. Their banter was gold. Their friendship, the heart of the show.
Their last argument in the car? Classic. Like a married couple squabbling on vacation.
And that hug? Fine, I'll admit it. It got me. But just a *little*.
Unpopular Opinion Alert!
Here's where I might lose some of you. I think the ending was a bit... convenient.
McGarrett just decides to leave and join Catherine? After all this time? It felt a little rushed, a bit out of character.
Couldn't he have found some balance? Be a super cop *and* have a relationship? Seems like a cop-out (pun intended!).
The Rest of the Ohana
What about everyone else? Where was a big goodbye for Lou Grover? Or Tani Rey?
They were a part of the team too! They deserved more than just a passing wave. Felt like the focus was solely on McGarrett's exit.
Maybe they were saving budget on tissues. I don't know.
In Conclusion (Sort Of)
Look, I loved Hawaii Five-0. Ten seasons of explosions, beautiful scenery, and cheesy one-liners. What's not to love?
But the finale? I think it leaned too heavily on the emotional aspect and forgot the fun. It traded action for sentimentality.
So, yeah. "Aloha" was good, but maybe not *as* good as everyone says. Sue me. Maybe I'm just secretly a robot. Or maybe I just needed more explosions.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go re-watch the episode where they stop a tsunami with a helicopter and duct tape. That's the Hawaii Five-0 I remember!
