I Am Not A Serial Killer Movie Trailer

Okay, let's talk about something. Something that's been bugging me for ages. It's about movie trailers. Specifically, the trailer for I Am Not a Serial Killer.
Don't get me wrong. The movie itself? Pretty good. Christopher Lloyd is in it! Who doesn't love Christopher Lloyd?
The Problem? The Hype!
But the trailer? Oh man, the trailer. It promised something... different. Something dark, twisted, and maybe even a little bit funny.
It hinted at a high school kid, John Wayne Cleaver, obsessed with serial killers. He was trying to control his own dark impulses. Sounds cool, right?
Then BAM! Supernatural twist! It becomes something else entirely. Something... monster-y.
My Unpopular Opinion
Here it comes. Brace yourselves. I think the trailer completely mis-sold the movie. Maybe this is only a problem for me. But I feel like it ruined a bit of the suspense!
It’s like ordering a pizza expecting pepperoni and getting pineapple. (Okay, maybe that's a bad example. Some people *like* pineapple on pizza!).
But seriously! The trailer leads you to believe it’s a psychological thriller. It felt more like a dark fantasy.
What the Trailer Did Right... And Wrong
Okay, credit where credit's due. The trailer did grab attention. The creepy vibe was undeniable.
It definitely made me want to watch it. The music and visuals were spot on. Max Records was fantastic.
But was it honest? That's the question. Did it accurately represent the tone and story of I Am Not a Serial Killer?
I'm leaning towards "no." The reveal of the... *thing*... felt premature. It gave away too much too soon.
The "Aha!" Moment... Lost?
Imagine watching the movie without knowing about the supernatural element. The slow burn of suspicion. The gradual realization.
That would have been amazing! The trailer took that away. At least, in my opinion.
Instead, we're prepped for monsters. The suspense is shifted. It's less about John Wayne Cleaver and more about the creature he's fighting.
Am I Being Too Harsh?
Maybe. Probably. It's just a movie trailer, right? But trailers are important!
They set expectations. They shape our initial impressions. And sometimes, they can be a little misleading.
It’s not that I hated the movie. I enjoyed it! Especially Christopher Lloyd's performance. His scenes were captivating.
Final Thoughts (and a Plea)
All I'm saying is, sometimes less is more. Maybe it's a marketing strategy. More view leads to watch time, and more money.
Trailers shouldn't give away all the best parts. Save some surprises for the actual film!
So, what do you think? Am I alone in this? Did the I Am Not a Serial Killer trailer live up to the hype? Or did it spoil the surprise? Let me know!
P.S. Dear Hollywood: Please stop revealing entire plotlines in trailers. Thank you.
