I Become A Villain In My Novel

Okay, folks, let me tell you something: I've embraced the dark side. I've traded in my halo for horns and decided to become a villain. It's been absolutely fabulous.

I mean, who wants to write about another goody-two-shoes character? We've all seen that story a million times! Honestly, I'd rather binge-watch cat videos.

The Appeal of the Anti-Hero

Think about it: villains get to be complex. They get to have motivations that are, shall we say, "unconventional." It's liberating!

Suddenly, I don't have to worry about being nice all the time. My character can be sassy, sarcastic, and maybe even a little bit… evil. Imagine Ursula from The Little Mermaid, but with my quirky sense of humor. It is an upgrade, I promise.

My current darling villain, let's call her "Regina," is a master manipulator. She can convince you that up is down and that pineapple pizza is a delicacy. It's a beautiful skill.

Living Vicariously Through Villainy

Okay, maybe I wouldn't actually steal someone's parking spot or switch their coffee with decaf. But Regina? She totally would. And I get to write about it!

It's like a pressure valve for all those little frustrations we all have. Except instead of bottling them up, I channel them into delightfully wicked schemes. Who needs therapy when you have creative writing?

Seriously, the other day, I was stuck in traffic and thought, "Regina would totally bribe the tow truck driver to move everyone out of her way." Then I smiled. Because I knew I would write it later.

The Joy of Dramatic Monologues

Let’s be honest, heroes have speeches. Villains have monologues. And those monologues are pure gold. They are glorious.

I get to write these epic, over-the-top rants about the unfairness of the world. It's cathartic! It's therapeutic! And it's probably going to make someone laugh. Or at least raise an eyebrow.

Plus, villains get to deliver all the best lines with a dramatic flourish. Think of Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty – "Well, now you did peak my interest." Pure genius.

Embrace Your Inner Evil Genius

Look, I'm not saying everyone should become a villain. But maybe, just maybe, give them a chance. Explore their motivations. Find the humanity, or lack thereof, in their darkness.

After all, every good story needs a compelling antagonist. And sometimes, the best way to create one is to tap into your own inner evil genius.

So, if you see me cackling maniacally while I’m typing, don't be alarmed. I'm just working on my latest masterpiece of villainy. And trust me, it's going to be wickedly good.
