Okay, let's talk Jack's Big Music Show. Remember that gem? Fuzzy puppets, catchy tunes, and a whole lot of silliness. It was pure, unadulterated kid-friendly fun.

But there's something I need to confess. Something that might make me public enemy number one in the Jack's Big Music Show fan club. Are you ready?

The Elephant in the Room (or, Laurie's Big Song)

It's about Laurie Berkner. I know, I know! She's a legend! A musical icon for preschoolers everywhere! Her songs are classics.

And she was a regular on Jack's Big Music Show. Usually singing her hit "Victor Vito" or the other songs. But I'm not talking about those here.

I'm talking about "Laurie's Big Song." Specifically, my (perhaps) controversial opinion about it. Deep breaths, everyone. Here we go!

Is it just me...?

"Laurie's Big Song"... It's a sweet song, I guess. About singing big, small, loud, and quiet. It is educational and encourages kids to be creative!

But something about it always felt...off. Like a lullaby that accidentally wandered into a party. Or a really long sneeze.

Maybe it's the tempo? Or maybe the melody is just a bit too repetitive? It's hard to put my finger on it.

My Unpopular Opinion

Here it is: "Laurie's Big Song" isn't the best song on Jack's Big Music Show. In fact, it might be my least favorite. Gasp!

Don't get me wrong, I respect Laurie Berkner. She's amazing! She wrote and performed awesome songs for children. I love "We Are the Dinosaurs"!

But "Laurie's Big Song"? It just doesn't quite click for me. Compared to the other tunes, it feels a bit...underwhelming.

Why This Might Be the Case

Maybe it's because I watched *Jack's Big Music Show* as an adult. Watching it with my kids now as a grownup is the best!

Perhaps kids love the simplicity? The clear instructions? The opportunity to be loud and quiet? Who knows!

Kids have different taste with music too. I'm sure there are tons of kids who adore "Laurie's Big Song." I'm just not one of them.

Alternatives I prefer

Give me "The Goodbye Song" any day! Or "Face Painting." Those are certified bangers. Catchy, clever, and full of energy!

The Pajama Party segments? Hilarious! Jack and Mel were comedy gold! They are the best characters in the show!

Those songs and skits make me laugh as much as my kids do. I love everything about them!

Am I Alone?

I suspect I'm not the only one who feels this way about "Laurie's Big Song." Somewhere out there, in the vast internet, there's gotta be at least one other person!
