Don't get me wrong! I appreciate her energy. She definitely shook things up for Kousei. He was stuck in a musical rut, poor guy.

Is she the ultimate Manic Pixie Dream Girl? Think about it. She bursts into his life. She's quirky, carefree, and exists primarily to help him. Isn't that a little...cliché?

I feel like we've seen this character a million times. The girl who fixes the brooding, emotionally stunted boy. It's a story as old as time, or at least as old as Hollywood. But does Kaori elevate the trope, or simply play it straight?

And that whole "living life to the fullest" thing? Admirable, sure. But also, a tad exhausting to watch. I need a nap just thinking about all that carefree frolicking.

Her illness definitely tugs at the heartstrings, I'll give you that. But I sometimes wonder if it overshadows her actual character. Could we love Kaori without the tragedy?

I get that she's trying to break Kousei out of his shell. But sometimes, her interpretations felt... a little off? Like she was prioritizing flashiness over substance. I am just being honest.

Don't get me wrong, she's talented! But I think the anime makes her sound like some kind of musical revolutionary. It's a lot of pressure!

Let's Not Forget Tsubaki

Poor Tsubaki! She's the childhood friend who's secretly in love with Kousei. She's grounded, supportive, and actually knows him really well.

But because she's not a whimsical violin prodigy, she gets overlooked. It's not fair! Tsubaki deserved better.

Seriously, can we get a spin-off where Tsubaki finally finds happiness? Maybe she opens a bakery or becomes a professional athlete? The possibilities are endless!

The Unpopular Opinion Conclusion

Look, I'm not saying Kaori is a *bad* character. I'm just saying she's not perfect. And maybe, just maybe, she gets a little more praise than she deserves.

She served her purpose in the story. But I feel like other characters like Tsubaki and even Watari are overshadowed by her spotlight.
