Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga Common Sense Media

Okay, folks, let's talk Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. You know, that game everyone and their Wookiee seems to adore? I've got some thoughts. Maybe controversial thoughts. Prepare yourselves.
A Galaxy of Giggles... Or Is It?
First, let's address the elephant in the room, or perhaps the Bantha in the desert. This game is supposed to be hilarious, right? Common Sense Media says it's good for ages 8+, praising its humor.
I'm not saying it's not funny. Some of the slapstick and character quirks are genuinely amusing. But after a while, doesn't it get a little… repetitive?
The Force... Or Forced Humor?
Hear me out. Every cutscene is crammed with jokes. Sometimes they land, sometimes they crash like a poorly piloted TIE fighter. Are we laughing with it, or at it?
The charm wears off. Especially when you're trying to actually, you know, *play* the game. Stop with the pratfalls, Darth Vader! I'm trying to build a Lego bridge!
Common Sense Media mentions "mild violence." Which, yeah, it's Lego violence. Bricks explode. Minifigures fall apart. Nobody actually gets hurt.
But is the constant barrage of pew-pew-pew action and simulated smashing *always* appropriate for younger kids? Just a thought.
Open World... Or Open-Ended Boredom?
The open world is huge! So many planets to explore! So many side quests! Sounds amazing, right? Initially.
After a while, the vastness starts to feel...empty. A lot of the side quests are fetch quests. Go here, collect that, bring it back. Rinse and repeat.
I love collecting Kyber bricks as much as the next Jedi Master. But traversing the same landscapes again and again? It can get a little tedious. Especially when you're aiming for 100% completion.
And speaking of tedious, has anyone else struggled with the Mumble Mode? It's a fun gimmick, recreating the old Lego games. But after a while, you start longing for actual dialogue.
The Common Sense Verdict: Is It *Really* That Great?
Look, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is a good game. I'm not denying that. It's polished, packed with content, and generally fun.
But is it the groundbreaking masterpiece everyone hails it as? I'm not so sure. Maybe my expectations were too high.
Maybe I'm just a grumpy old Padawan. But I think it's okay to admit that even beloved games have their flaws. Even those made of Lego bricks.
So, next time you're blasting through Mos Eisley, remember my words. Is that laugh genuine, or are you just being a good sport? Is that side quest actually fun, or are you just driven by completionist OCD?
Maybe the Force *isn't* so strong with this one after all. Or maybe, I just need a break and a cup of blue milk. May the Force (and a healthy dose of skepticism) be with you.
Disclaimer: I still enjoyed playing Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. This is just my attempt at a lighthearted and slightly dissenting opinion. Please don't send any angry Ewoks after me.
