My Columbia Tristar Sony Pictures Dvd Collection

My Columbia Tristar Sony Pictures Dvd Collection

It started innocently enough. A rainy Saturday, a craving for nostalgia, and a trip to the dusty corner of a used bookstore.

There, amidst the forgotten paperbacks and chipped teacups, it began: my Columbia Tristar Sony Pictures DVD collection. It wasn't a conscious decision, more like a series of happy accidents.

At first, it was a few classics. Ghostbusters, naturally. And Groundhog Day. Can't go wrong with Bill Murray, right?

The Accidental Archivist

Then came the deep dives. Suddenly, I owned Anaconda. Yes, the one with Jennifer Lopez fighting a giant snake. I still don't know why.

A slightly embarrassing, yet oddly satisfying, addition was I Know What You Did Last Summer. Peak 90s slasher flick. Don't judge!

The collection took on a life of its own. It grew like a friendly, slightly eccentric, houseplant.

My friends started to notice. "You... you have a lot of Sony Pictures movies," they'd say, eyebrows raised.

My defense? "They were on sale!" Which was sometimes true. Mostly.

Discovering Hidden Gems (and Not-So-Hidden Turkeys)

The beauty of this accidental collection lies in the discoveries. Some were wonderful, some were... less so.

I unearthed forgotten comedies. Films with heart, humor, and absolutely no right to be as charming as they are.

I also stumbled upon cinematic *bombs*. Movies so bad, they became good. In a "so bad it's hilarious" kind of way.

One such gem was a certain Steven Seagal vehicle where he single-handedly saves the planet... again. It was a treat, I swear.

The best part? Watching these movies with friends, armed with snacks and witty commentary. It’s like our own private film school, but with more laughter and less pretension.

More Than Just Discs

But it's not just about the movies themselves. Each DVD holds a memory.

That copy of Matilda? Found it on a road trip, purchased at a quirky roadside antique store.

The Fifth Element? A gift from my brother. We quote it constantly to this day.

The collection became a tapestry of moments, woven together with plastic discs and memorable scenes.

"Are you going to watch all these?" my mother asked, during a particularly sprawling reorganization of my shelves.

My response? A vague, yet enthusiastic, "Eventually!"

The Future of My Collection

Where does it go from here? Who knows!

Maybe I'll start organizing them alphabetically. Or chronologically. Or by genre. The possibilities are endless.

Perhaps I will start a themed movie night. Tonight: Columbia Tristar's best animated features!

One thing is for sure. I’ll keep on collecting. Keep on watching. Keep on enjoying these little slices of cinematic history.

Because in a world of streaming services and digital downloads, there's something undeniably comforting about holding a physical copy of a movie. Especially when that movie is Drop Dead Fred.

So, here's to my slightly absurd, surprisingly heartwarming, ever-growing collection of Columbia Tristar Sony Pictures DVDs. May it continue to bring joy, laughter, and the occasional cinematic cringe for years to come. Who knows what other forgotten masterpieces or delightfully terrible films await me?
