And I think My Little Monster episode one's dub fits that bill! This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm sticking to it.

Maybe it's the nostalgia. Maybe it's the slightly cheesy delivery. Whatever it is, I kind of love it.

Haru's Voice: Endearingly Deranged?

Let’s be real, Haru is…a lot. In the sub, he's intimidating and unpredictable.

But in the dub? He's almost…sweetly unhinged. His voice is less scary, more "puppy who needs a hug (and maybe therapy)."

Okay, maybe that's not the intended effect. But it's what I got!

Shizuku's Deadpan Delivery

Shizuku, our study-obsessed heroine, is meant to be monotone. Emotionally detached.

The dub nails this! Her dry, sarcastic lines are delivered perfectly. No overly dramatic anime screams here.

She's the perfect foil to Haru's…everything.

The Script: Okay, There *Are* Some Changes...

Alright, I'll admit it. The dub script takes some liberties. Things get simplified, lines get added.

But honestly? Some of the added lines are hilarious. They add a layer of levity that keeps the show from getting too heavy.

It's like they knew this was a comedy and leaned into it!

That Infamous Chicken Scene...

You know the one. The chicken. The threats. It's a classic My Little Monster moment.

The dub makes it even more ridiculous. The delivery of lines like, "I will destroy you, chicken!" is pure gold.

It's so over-the-top, it's brilliant.

Why I (Secretly) Love It

Look, I'm not saying the English dub of My Little Monster episode one is a masterpiece. It's not winning any awards.

But it’s fun. It’s goofy. And sometimes, that's exactly what you need.
