No More Mr Nice Guy Carl Weber

Okay, let's talk Carl Weber. But not just any Carl Weber. We're diving into the "No More Mr. Nice Guy" Carl Weber.
Is it just me, or did his characters sometimes need a little...tough love?
The Nice Guy Trope: Overdone?
Look, I get it. Everyone loves a good guy. A man who cares and doesn't play games. But sometimes, the nice guy routine gets a little stale.
It's like, come on, where's the edge? The unexpected twist?
Is it wrong to want a little drama with your romance? Maybe. But I'm just being honest here.
Were They *Too* Nice?
Think about some of Weber's male characters. Were they perpetually forgiving? Always understanding?
Were they bending over backwards to a fault? Possibly.
A little bit of assertiveness never hurt anyone, right?
Okay, maybe it has. But still!
The Appeal of the Anti-Hero (Even in Weber's World)
There's something intriguing about a character who isn't perfect. Who makes mistakes. Who has flaws.
We see ourselves in those imperfections, don't we?
We relate because life isn't a perfectly scripted romance novel.
Spice It Up!
Imagine a Carl Weber novel where the male lead actually stands up for himself early on. Where he doesn't tolerate blatant disrespect.
Would that be so bad? I think not.
A little bit of self-respect goes a long way. Even in fiction.
Maybe, just maybe, the ladies would fall for him even harder.
Unpopular Opinion Time: The Women Weren't Always Angels
Let's be real. Some of the female characters in Weber's books put those "nice guys" through the wringer.
Did they always deserve the unending patience and devotion?
Probably not.
Sometimes, I found myself yelling at the pages, "He deserves better!"
Standing Up For Yourself is Important
It's not about being mean or disrespectful. It's about knowing your worth. Setting boundaries. Having a backbone.
It's about not letting people walk all over you, even if you're deeply in love.
And maybe, just maybe, seeing a Carl Weber character embrace that would be refreshing.
So, No More Mr. Nice Guy?
Maybe not entirely. But a little bit of "tough love" Carl Weber? I'm here for it.
Give us some flawed characters who learn and grow. Who aren't afraid to say "no."
Give us characters that readers can relate to, even in their imperfect messiness.
After all, isn't that what good storytelling is all about?
What do you think? Am I totally off base? Or are you ready for a Carl Weber character who's a little less "nice guy" and a little more...real?
