Okay, unpopular opinion time. I actually like patrolling the Stone Quarter at night. There, I said it.

The air is crisp. The moon casts long, dramatic shadows.

The Sound of Silence (Almost)

Everyone's asleep. Well, mostly. Except maybe Old Man Hemlock and his nocturnal cat.

He always complains about the rats. And my boots. He says they're "too loud for a quiet street!"

But honestly, it's peaceful. Way more peaceful than dealing with the daytime crowds.

The Allure of the Cobblestones

Those cobblestones gleam under the streetlamps. Each one telling a story. Or at least, looking like they *could* tell a story.

They've been walked on for centuries. Imagine the secrets those stones hold!

I sometimes wonder if they whisper when no one's around. Probably about lost socks and dropped coins.

Creatures of the Night

You see all sorts of interesting things after dark. Not just rats and grumpy old men.

There are owls, of course. Majestic, silent hunters.

And the occasional raccoon rummaging through bins. They always look so surprised to see me.

The Unexpected Perks

The baker often leaves out day-old bread. Don't judge, a patrolman's gotta eat! Besides, Stone Quarter bakery bread never tastes day old.

It's still warm sometimes. Especially good with a bit of cheese pilfered from...well, let's just say it's *acquired* cheese.

And the silence gives you time to think. Big thoughts. Like, "Where *did* I leave my other glove?"

Avoidable Annoyances

There are a few downsides, naturally. Namely, the drunkards singing off-key.

And the occasional catfight. Those things are LOUD.

But even those are preferable to the daytime bickering at the market. Honestly. Anything is better than Agnes's screaming about cabbage prices.

A Different Perspective

Everything looks different at night. More mysterious. More romantic, even.

Even the grimy alleyways have a certain charm. A dark, shadowy charm, but charm nonetheless.

The whole quarter feels...smaller. More intimate. Like you're sharing a secret with it.

The Underrated Reward

So next time you're considering a night out, skip the tavern. Take a stroll through the Stone Quarter.

You might be surprised what you find. Or, you might just find a quiet place to think.

Just watch out for Old Man Hemlock. And the rats. And maybe bring some cheese for that day-old bread.

Trust me. Patroling in the Quarter at night is highly underrated. It provides you with the ability to see Stone Quarter from a different point of view. I am more than happy to volunteer anytime to do that.
