Persona 3 Movie 2 Midsummer Knight's Dream

Alright, Let's Talk Persona 3 Movie 2: Midsummer Knight's Dream (Kinda)
Okay, so Persona 3 The Movie #2: Midsummer Knight's Dream is…fine. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed watching the characters grow. But sometimes, I think it's a bit overhyped.
Is that a controversial opinion? Maybe. But hear me out!
The "Midsummer" That Wasn't So Midsummery
First off, the title! Midsummer Knight's Dream? It sounds so magical. So lighthearted! I was expecting some seriously whimsical stuff.
Instead, we got…more existential dread. Which, granted, is very Persona 3. But where's the fun, fluffy stuff a midsummer's dream should offer?
Honestly, Shakespeare is rolling in his grave…from boredom.
Shinjiro's Angst: We Get It
Let's talk about Shinjiro. Dude is angsty. He's got a dark past. We all know the drill.
The movie spends a lot of time showing this. I get that he is a key character and all. But the constant brooding got a little old.
Couldn't we have had, like, one scene of him smiling? Just once?
Akechi Cameo and That Awkward Moment
Okay, not really Akechi from Persona 5. But that guy from Strega! His whole demeanor gives me similar vibes.
I saw that twist coming from a mile away. I'm not saying I'm a genius. But that plot point wasn't exactly subtle.
The scene when he revealed his true colors? Awkward silence followed by a predictable fight scene.
The Animation: Still Gorgeous, Though!
Look, I'm not bashing everything. The animation is beautiful! The fight scenes are fluid. The character designs are spot-on.
A-1 Pictures knows what they're doing. Visually, the movie is a masterpiece.
It's just... sometimes pretty pictures aren't enough.
Yukari: Still as Tsundere as Ever
Yukari is... well, she's Yukari. The tsundere queen! Still yelling at Makoto for existing.
Her interactions are sometimes annoying and funny. Can't she just admit she likes him already?
Seriously, this is why I never got the charm of tsundere characters!
The Slow Burn of Tartarus
The plot moves at a snail's pace. A very dramatic snail, mind you.
But the climb up Tartarus feels like it takes forever. Show, don't tell, right? But the movie loves telling us how difficult things are.
I almost fell asleep a couple times. No kidding.
So, What's the Verdict?
Midsummer Knight's Dream is a good movie. Not a *great* one, in my opinion.
It's visually stunning, but the pacing and certain character arcs could've been better.
Don't @ me, Persona fans. I still love the game. I just think this movie could have been more.
Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm expecting too much. But it fell flat for me.
Anyway, can't wait for Persona 3 Movie #3! I'm sure it'll be just as... dramatic.
"To be, or not to be, that is the question."- Shakespeare (probably thinking about the movie)
