Pokemon Movie I Choose You Full

Okay, Hear Me Out About That *Pokemon I Choose You!* Movie
So, remember Pokemon I Choose You!? Yeah, the one that tried to tug at our heartstrings.
I know, I know. Pikachu talking? Intense, right?
But let's be real, some parts of that movie felt a little…off.
Ash's New Besties?
Ash ditching Brock and Misty? Traumatic! They were the original squad.
Like, who are these new kids, Makoto and Souji? Are they even *real*?
They just felt...generic. Like they were pulled from a 'Create-a-Trainer' kit.
And don't even get me started on how quickly Ash bonded with them. Talk about replacement therapy gone wild!
Butterfree, But... Why Again?
The Butterfree scene *again*? We already cried once!
Did we really need a rehash of the original goodbye? It felt a bit much.
Seriously, my tear ducts were already depleted from the first time around.
The Rainbow Wing Shenanigans
Okay, the whole rainbow wing plot was… a lot. Legendary Pokemon prophecies?
Suddenly, Ash is the Chosen One? I thought he just really liked battling.
I'm not saying it was bad, but it did feel a bit like they were trying too hard to make it epic.
And Then Pikachu Spoke…
Pikachu talking? Look, I love Pikachu as much as the next person.
But when he spoke English? It was jarring. Like hearing your cat suddenly recite Shakespeare.
I get the emotional impact they were going for. But the "Because I always want to be with you" line felt a bit forced.
Me personally, I think that Pikachu should just pika pika his way to our hearts.
The Power Creep is Real!
Speaking of going too far, was it just me, or did the level of battles get way too high at times?
I swear, some of the trainers in this movie could give Elite Four members a run for their money.
Like, calm down everyone, Ash is only ten. He should not be fighting near-god-level trainers.
Is it a bad movie?
Now, don't get me wrong. The animation was gorgeous.
And seeing Ho-Oh fly across the screen? Magical!
But, I still felt something was missing.
The Nostalgia Factor
Maybe it’s the nostalgia talking, but those early episodes with Brock and Misty just hit different.
Their bickering, their flaws, their unwavering support for Ash. It felt genuine.
Maybe Pokemon I Choose You! was trying to recapture that magic. But it just didn't quite land for me.
My Unpopular Opinion
So, yeah, maybe I'm alone in this.
Maybe I'm just being a grumpy old Pokemon fan.
But Pokemon I Choose You!, while visually stunning, felt like it missed the heart of what made the original series so special. Give me the good ol' team rocket any day!
