Pokemon Movie I Choose You Watch

Okay, Confession Time: I Actually *Liked* Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!
Don't @ me. I said what I said. Everyone seems to hate it, but honestly? I had fun.
Maybe it's nostalgia goggles. Maybe I'm easily pleased by cute pocket monsters. Either way, I enjoyed it.
Let's Talk About Ash, Shall We?
Look, Ash Ketchum is basically eternally ten years old. We all know this.
He makes questionable decisions. He's incredibly stubborn. But that's part of his charm, right?
This movie gives us a slightly different, more emotional Ash. It's a little cheesy, sure. But hey, cheese is delicious!
Bye Bye Misty and Brock? Hello New Friends!
Okay, I get the outrage. Replacing Misty and Brock felt wrong. They were *the* original crew!
But let's be real. They'd had their time in the sun. New characters are always fun to see.
Were Souji and Makoto perfect replacements? Maybe not. Did they bring something new to the table? Absolutely.
The Butterfree Scene... Again?!
Yes, the Butterfree scene. It's heartbreaking every single time. Even if you've seen it a million times.
Did they need to rehash it? Probably not. Did I still tear up? You bet I did.
Don't judge me. I'm a sucker for a good Pokémon farewell. Especially when Butterfree fly away with the loved ones.
The Real Problem: Retcon-Mania!
The biggest complaint seems to be the retconning. Changing the original story? That's a risky move.
And yeah, messing with established lore can be annoying. I totally understand why people were upset.
But I tried to view it as an alternate timeline. A "What If?" scenario. It's just a different take on Ash's journey.
That Lugia Scene Tho...
The Lugia scene was visually stunning. Seriously, the animation in this movie is gorgeous.
Seeing Ash and Pikachu fly on Lugia? Epic. Pure, unadulterated Pokémon goodness.
It's moments like these that made me forgive some of the movie's other shortcomings. A real pokemon spirit adventure.
And... Ash Actually *Talked* to Pikachu?!
Okay, this was weird. Pikachu speaking human language? It felt a bit... off.
But let's be honest. We've all secretly wished we could understand our pets. Maybe this was wish fulfillment?
It was a bit jarring, I admit. But it didn't ruin the whole movie for me. The Pikachu's words was pretty cool though!
So, Why Did I Like It?
Look, it's not a masterpiece. It has flaws. Many, many flaws.
But it also has heart. It has nostalgia. And it has Pokémon! Those adorable creatures.
Sometimes, all you need is a fun, cheesy adventure with Ash and Pikachu. And for me, this movie delivered.
Maybe I'm alone in this. But Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You! gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling. And sometimes, that's enough.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go rewatch it. And maybe cry a little during the Butterfree scene. No shame!
