Pride Of Broken Arrow Marching Band 2021

Pride Of Broken Arrow Marching Band 2021

Okay, people, let's talk marching band. Specifically, the Pride of Broken Arrow 2021 show. Were we blown away? Sure, like a tuba player hitting a wrong note at a national competition.

But hear me out. Before you sharpen your shakos and send hate mail, let's get into my unpopular opinion.

The Hype Train: All Aboard... Or Not?

Everyone was losing their minds over Broken Arrow's 2021 performance. You know, the one that got all the awards? The one everyone said was a masterpiece?

Don't get me wrong. The talent was undeniable. Those kids practiced their socks off.

However, was it really that groundbreaking? I'm just asking! It felt…familiar.

Been There, Marched That?

It wasn't bad, but did it break the mold? Maybe I've seen too many marching band shows. Maybe I'm jaded from years of halftime performances.

Perhaps the choreography was a little too predictable. The music, while well-played, felt like a remix of things I’d heard before.

It’s like that pop song everyone loves, but you swear you’ve heard it ten times already under different titles. You start wondering if songwriting is even an art form anymore.

The Uniforms: Shiny, But Safe

Okay, the uniforms were undeniably snazzy. They sparkled. They shined. But did they say, "This is something NEW!" I don't think so.

They felt like a classic marching band uniform with extra glitter. A safe bet, to be certain. Maybe too safe?

Were we playing it too safe in 2021? I mean, come on, let's risk a few fashion faux pas for the sake of innovation.

The Drill: Squares and Lines Forever?

The drill formations were…impressive. Intricate! Like watching ants build an elaborate colony. But did they make my jaw drop?

Did they redefine the art of marching on a football field? Sadly, no.

I was expecting something that was gonna challenge how we view marching band. What I saw was lots of really, really well-executed squares.

The Music: Well-Played, But Where's The Soul?

Technically, the music was flawless. Each note was perfect. They hit every crescendo with precision.

But something was missing. The soul! The passion that makes your hair stand on end.

I needed more than just technically perfect playing. I needed something to make me *feel* something.

A Call for Chaos (Kind Of)

Look, I'm not saying they should have thrown all caution to the wind and had a drumline free-for-all. But a little controlled chaos never hurt anyone.

A bit of unexpected flair, perhaps? A rogue trombone solo in the middle of a ballad? You know, something to spice things up.

Basically, I yearned for something unexpected during their performances. Something to really leave a mark.

In Conclusion: Still Great, Just Not Revolutionary

The Pride of Broken Arrow 2021 was good. Really good! These were talented students, hardworking instructors, and committed parents.

This program is amazing. I just felt like the show was more of the same.

So, while everyone else was hailing it as the second coming of marching band, I was left feeling…slightly underwhelmed. Sue me!

But hey, that's just my opinion. And you know what they say about opinions… they're like shakos; everyone has one!
