Queensryche Take Hold Of The Flame Lyrics

Let's talk Queensryche. Specifically, "Take Hold of the Flame." It’s a classic. We all know it, right? But are the lyrics... a little cheesy?
I’m just saying. I love Geoff Tate's voice. It’s like liquid gold. However, sometimes I wonder about the words he's singing.
Burning Questions About the Flame
Okay, the song is about, like, seizing your destiny. Finding your purpose. All that good stuff. I get it. But does it have to sound like a fortune cookie?
Maybe I’m being too harsh. This song came out in the 80s. Everything was over-the-top back then. Big hair, bigger guitars, and… well, you get the picture.
A Lyrical Breakdown (Kind Of)
Let's look at some lines. "And take hold of the flame." Profound, right? But seriously, what does that even *mean*?
Is it about ambition? Passion? Or just not burning yourself on the stove?
"Take hold of the flame, don't let it burn you."is what my mom always told me with the kitchen.
Then there's the whole "walking on the edge" bit. I hope they had good shoes. Seriously, walking on the edge of what?
A cliff? A social faux pas? It's all very dramatic. I wish the song had just a little more detail to paint us a picture, right?.
And what's with all the fire imagery? I mean, aside from the obvious "flame" part. Queensryche are not a metal band doing pyrotechnics here.
Maybe it's a metaphor! For burning passion! Or burning toast! Who knows?
Am I the Only One?
Look, I'm not saying the song is bad. It's a classic for a reason. Michael Wilton's guitar solo is amazing.
But do you ever listen to the lyrics and think, "Huh?" Or is it just me? It’s a power ballad masquerading as a philosophical treatise.
I bet Queensryche themselves have a laugh about it now. They probably have a secret stash of "Take Hold of the Flame" memes.
You know, "Me trying to cook dinner" with the caption "Take hold of the flame." Or "Me trying to understand quantum physics" with the same caption.
The possibilities are endless. And hilarious. At least, I think so.
Unpopular Opinion Time
Here's my controversial statement. "Take Hold of the Flame" is musically brilliant. But lyrically... it's unintentionally funny. There I said it!
It's like a serious poem written by a teenager. A very talented teenager, but still a teenager. Is like my poetry in highschool.
Don't get me wrong, I still crank it up in the car. I just giggle a little bit when Geoff Tate belts out those earnest lines.
Maybe the cheese is part of the charm. Maybe it's what makes the song so enduring. The question is, do we embrace the cheese? Or do we cringe and sing along anyway?
My vote? A little bit of both. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go "take hold of the flame" of my microwave popcorn.
Wish me luck. Let's face it, we all need a little Queensryche in our lives. Even if we're laughing *with* them (or maybe a little *at* them). But mostly, *with*!
