Sebastian Maniscalco Aren T You Embarrassed Netflix

Okay, confession time. I watched Sebastian Maniscalco's "Aren't You Embarrassed?" on Netflix. And I... I didn't laugh as much as everyone else seems to. Don't throw tomatoes yet!
I know, I know. He's hugely popular. Packed arenas. Everyone's quoting him about airplane peanuts. But am I alone in thinking some bits felt a little... dated?
Relatable, Sure. But...
His observational humor is his thing. He points out everyday annoyances. The kind of stuff we all secretly think about, right?
But sometimes, it felt like I was watching a stand-up routine from 2010. Are we *still* complaining about airline food? I mean, come on!
The Italian-American Card
A lot of the humor relies on his Italian-American heritage. Now, I'm not saying it's bad. But after a while, the "my family is loud and opinionated" jokes felt a bit repetitive.
Every comedian has their niche. For Sebastian Maniscalco, it's clearly leaning into his background. Maybe I just needed more variety!
The Netflix Effect
Let's be honest, Netflix has an algorithm. It throws things at you hoping something sticks. I've definitely watched worse.
But maybe, just maybe, some comedy specials are better seen live. The energy of the crowd can really elevate a performance. Perhaps "Aren't You Embarrassed?" suffers from being viewed on my couch, alone, with a bag of chips.
It's Not *All* Bad
Don't get me wrong. There were parts I chuckled at. His physical comedy is undeniable. He's got great stage presence.
And he definitely commits to his character. That slightly exasperated, old-school Italian guy? He nails it. I did laugh when he imitating someone chewing.
Maybe It's Just Me
Look, humor is subjective. What one person finds hilarious, another might find boring. It is just a matter of preference.
Maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood. Or maybe I've seen too many stand-up specials lately. Or maybe, just maybe, I expected something a little more groundbreaking from Sebastian Maniscalco on Netflix.
So, Am I Embarrassed?
Am I embarrassed that I didn't love "Aren't You Embarrassed?" Not really. I like what I like.
Am I prepared for the internet backlash? Probably not. But hey, at least I'm being honest!
So tell me, what did you think? Was I too harsh? Or do you secretly agree with me that some jokes were a little stale? Let me know! But please be nice, my feelings are easily hurt. 😉
Ultimately, comedy is subjective. And hey, at least Sebastian Maniscalco is out there making people laugh. That's more than I can say for myself right now. I am just writing an article here.
