Stone Cold Vs The Rock Wrestlemania 15

Okay, let's talk WrestleMania 15. Specifically, Stone Cold Steve Austin vs. The Rock. The Attitude Era at its finest! Or... was it?
I know, I know. Heathens will be calling for my head. But hear me out. I have a confession.
The Match That Everyone Loves (Except Maybe Me?)
Everyone raves about this match. A true classic, they say! Legendary! A defining moment for both Austin and Rock.
And yeah, it was big. Huge, even. The energy was palpable. The crowd was insane. But... *something* felt off for me.
Maybe it's because I've seen it a million times. Maybe it's because I had really high expectations. Or maybe, just maybe, it's a tad overrated?
Don't Get Me Wrong, It Was Good...
Before the pitchforks come out, let me clarify. It wasn't *bad*. Both Stone Cold and The Rock are amazing performers.
They beat the ever-living crap out of each other. Chairs were broken. Beer was drunk. Stunners were delivered.
It was pure, unadulterated wrestling chaos. What’s not to love?
...But Was It *Great*?
Here's my unpopular opinion: The match felt a bit... formulaic. Austin gets beat up. Austin makes a comeback. Austin wins.
We'd seen it before. We'd see it again. It’s like ordering your favorite pizza every time. Still good, but where's the surprise?
And the constant interference? McMahon, of course, was heavily involved. Felt a bit... messy.
"Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!" - Stone Cold Steve Austin. Iconic, yes. But the *match* itself?
The Hype Train Is Real
I think the hype surrounding WrestleMania 15 is partly due to the era. The Attitude Era was wild. Everything felt bigger and bolder.
Austin and Rock were at the peak of their careers. Their rivalry was white-hot. So, naturally, their WrestleMania showdown became legendary.
But sometimes, nostalgia can cloud our judgment. We remember the *feeling* more than the actual match.
Comparing Apples and Oranges (or Stunners and Rock Bottoms?)
Think about other Austin and Rock matches. Their WrestleMania X-Seven clash is considered by many to be superior.
Even their matches on Raw and SmackDown were often more engaging, in my opinion. Just pure wrestling without the bells and whistles.
Maybe WrestleMania 15 suffered from the pressure. All eyes were on them, and maybe that hindered their creativity.
Am I Alone Here?
So, am I the only one who feels this way? Am I destined to be banished to the land of wrestling heretics?
Probably. But I stand by my opinion. WrestleMania 15 was good, but not the untouchable masterpiece some make it out to be.
It was a product of its time, hyped beyond belief. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go hide from the angry wrestling fans.
Maybe I'll watch some Bret Hart matches to soothe my soul. Or maybe not. Just kidding! Stone Cold Forever!
