Okay, let's talk Sing 2. Specifically, that one song. You know the one. The *Shawn Mendes* song? Yeah, "There's Nothing Holding Me Back."

Is it Just Me...?

I'm going to say it. Prepare for the internet to come for me. Are we absolutely sure "There's Nothing Holding Me Back" works in *Sing 2*?

I mean, it's catchy. No denying that. But does it *really* fit?

Let's Break It Down

The song is about, well, not being held back. Obvious, right? It's about passion and excitement. And…teen romance? Maybe that's where things get a bit wobbly.

In *Sing 2*, it's sung by Rosita (the pig mom extraordinaire). It’s meant to be about conquering her fears. But somehow, the undertones of the song feel…off.

Hear me out! Rosita is amazing. We all love her. Her character arc is powerful and about her own insecurities. It's very empowering for her to overcome those fears to be on stage.

The Vibe Check Failed?

The song feels…young. It's got that giddy, butterflies-in-your-stomach energy. It feels more appropriate for Johnny the gorilla's storyline. Or even Meena the elephant finding her voice.

But Rosita? I needed something with a bit more *oomph*. A bit more…maturity, I suppose?

Picture This…

Imagine Rosita belting out something like *Tina Turner's* "Proud Mary." Now *that's* a "I'm breaking free!" anthem! That song has some serious attitude.

Or even something a little soulful, like *Aretha Franklin*. Give the pig some R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Because Rosita deserves it.

I’m not saying "There's Nothing Holding Me Back" is a bad song. It's a total bop! It is! I blast it in my car sometimes. I do.

Maybe It’s Just Me

Maybe I'm overthinking it. Maybe I'm being overly critical. But something about that song choice just didn't quite click for me.

It just didn't deliver the emotional punch I was expecting for Rosita’s big moment.

Anyone else feel this way? Am I alone on this island of unpopular *Sing 2* opinions? Please tell me I’m not crazy!

The Bigger Picture

Ultimately, *Sing 2* is a fun, heartwarming movie. It's got catchy tunes and a positive message. You can't fault it for that!

And maybe the producers chose that song for a reason. Maybe it appealed to a broader audience. Maybe I need to just let it go.

But still… I can't help but wonder what could have been.
