When Does Kratos Get The Blades Of Chaos Back

Okay, picture this: You're Kratos, right? You've traded in your raging, fire-y temper and iconic Blades of Chaos for a calmer, cooler, more fatherly vibe and a Leviathan Axe. It's like swapping your ridiculously awesome sports car for a sensible minivan. Good for the family, but sometimes... you miss that roar!
So, naturally, the big question everyone wants to know is: When does old grumpy-dad Kratos decide it's time to unleash the inner fury and reclaim his signature weapons? The answer is... well, it's a turning point you absolutely will not forget!
A Frigid Homecoming
You won't get the Blades of Chaos right away when you start playing God of War (2018). In fact, you might even start thinking they're gone forever! It's all about creating that feeling of loss and the need to adapt.
Don't worry, though! Midgard has other, less fiery means to an end. As if Kratos could ever give up on the whole ‘smashing monsters’ thing.
Journey to a Familiar Place
To get the Blades back, you have to progress through the main story. You'll eventually need to head to Helheim. Yep, the Norse version of hell. Think really, really cold, lots of angry ghosts, and generally unpleasant weather.
Remember how Kratos is trying to bury his past? Well, surprise! His past has other plans and wants a chat. A very fiery chat.
The specific trigger is during the quest "A Path to Jotunheim." It’s not just a casual stroll through the underworld, mind you. You actually need to go there.
The Moment of Truth: A Flash From The Past
Okay, deep breath. You're in your cozy Norse home, trying to chill with Atreus. You probably have just gotten back from a long journey so you deserve some relaxing time. Then, BOOM! Kratos gets a vision. Not the fun, vacation-planning kind. This one's more of a "your sins are catching up to you" kind.
Suddenly, the world goes a little crazy, the skies turn a bit ominous. This vision forces Kratos to make a serious decision, and if you're as excited as I was, it’s time to make that trek back to his old home.
You’ll need to head back to your old house because you aren't able to progress without getting those familiar old friends! You might as well have a little fire-forged reunion at your old place, right?
Reclaiming the Blades
Once there, a door that was once sealed will now open, revealing a chest. Prepare yourself. This isn’t just any chest. Reaching inside, Kratos (and you!) will be reunited with the Blades of Chaos. It's like finding your favorite worn-out leather jacket that you thought you'd lost forever!
He has a serious moment of inner conflict, but ultimately acknowledges that his past is a part of him and he cannot run away from it. And then, the glorious sound of chains rattling fills the air!
And just like that, you have them! Now, get ready to relearn how to use them! Don't worry, it will come back to you as quickly as it does to Kratos.
Why Now?
Why Helheim? Well, Helheim is basically fueled by the pain and torment of the dead. It's a place where Kratos' past actions are amplified. Getting the blades back here forces him to confront his identity as the Ghost of Sparta.
The environment of Helheim also makes the Blades of Chaos especially useful. The Leviathan Axe isn’t as effective against the undead denizens of Helheim, so the fire-based attacks of the Blades offer a distinct advantage.
So, there you have it! A dramatic return, a chilly location, and a whole lot of fiery vengeance. Now go forth and unleash the Spartan rage!
