Where is the jungle, seriously? I've spent countless hours dodging Walkers and Thugs. Mostly I just see concrete and palm trees. Is that it?

I have a controversial opinion. Prepare yourselves: There isn't a proper jungle on the Dead Island map. I said it!

Beaches and Bungalows: Not Exactly Tarzan's Territory

We get beaches, sure. Loads of 'em. And plenty of dilapidated resorts. But where are the thick, vine-covered trees? The exotic birds? The swinging monkeys? (Okay, maybe replace monkeys with slightly-less-zombie-like tourists.)

Don't get me wrong, I love a good zombie-filled resort. But that's not a jungle. That's a tropical vacation gone horribly, horribly wrong.

Maybe I'm being picky. Perhaps my definition of "jungle" is too...jungle-y. But I expected more foliage. More green! Less decaying flesh on sun loungers.

The "Jungle" Sections: A Mild Disappointment

Okay, okay, I hear you. Some areas are *sort of* jungley. The edges of the map, maybe? Those bits where you get lost and end up facing five Butchers at once?

But even those areas feel more like overgrown gardens than proper, dense jungle. They are basically back alleys with a few too many ferns.

I picture Tarzan showing up, taking one look, and saying, "This isn't my jungle. Where's the wifi?"

The Real Star: The City (Almost)

Let’s be honest, the actual star of Dead Island is the city. Moresby, it is the one zone that almost delivers on the visuals. It's got that chaotic, disaster-movie vibe. And plenty of places to bash zombie heads.

But still, that intro video promised me a vibrant, untamed wilderness. And all I got was a slightly overgrown parking lot.

Maybe Dead Island 2 will finally give us the jungle we deserve. A real jungle. With snakes, quicksand, and maybe even a friendly chimpanzee who can toss grenades.

My Unpopular Verdict

So, here's my final, potentially controversial verdict. The jungle in Dead Island? It's... a bit of a lie. A beautiful, sun-drenched, zombie-infested lie. But a lie nonetheless.

I still love the game! Don't get me wrong. But I can't help but feel slightly cheated on the jungle front.

I came for the Tarzan experience. I stayed for the zombie smashing. But I'm still waiting for that proper jungle adventure. Perhaps a modder out there can make my dream come true.

Until then, I'll keep swinging my makeshift machete through the suspiciously tidy vegetation, dreaming of a truly wild Dead Island experience.
