Zz Top 25 Lighters On My Dresser

Okay, confession time. My dresser isn't exactly organized. It's more like a carefully curated chaos, especially when it comes to lighters. I counted the other day: twenty-five.
Yep, 25 lighters. Not all of them work, mind you. Some are sentimental, some are just plain cool, and a few are probably haunted by the ghosts of forgotten cigarettes.
The Zippo Family
Let's start with the Zippos. A classic, right? I have a couple. One is shiny chrome, engraved with what I *thought* was a cool skull design when I was 18.
Now it just looks a bit…try-hard. But hey, nostalgia!
The other Zippo is much cooler: a brushed brass one I got at a ZZ Top concert. It's got the band's logo on it. Seeing it always brings back memories of that amazing show.
The Quirky Collection
Then there's the oddball bunch. The novelty lighters. The ones that make you go, "Where did you even *get* that?"
There's one shaped like a tiny red fire extinguisher. I honestly don't remember buying it. Maybe it was a gift?
And a bright yellow one shaped like a banana. It's ridiculous, but it always makes me smile.
A friend gave me a lighter that looks like a vintage microphone. He knows I love to sing karaoke, so it’s perfect.
The Sentimental Flames
Some of these lighters aren’t about the flame, but about the memories. There's a simple, silver lighter. It belonged to my grandfather.
He always kept it in his pocket. Every time I hold it, I remember him.
It reminds me of his stories and his laugh. It's a little piece of him that I can carry with me.
Another one is from a trip I took with my best friend. It's a cheap, plastic lighter with the name of a tourist trap printed on it.
But it reminds me of laughter, late-night talks, and adventures. The flame might flicker, but the memories burn bright.
The "Definitely Not Working" Section
Of course, there's the graveyard of lighters. The ones that spark hopefully but never quite ignite.
I keep them around. Partly because I'm lazy about throwing things away. Partly because maybe, just maybe, I'll get around to fixing them someday.
Or maybe they'll just become tiny, metal sculptures on my dresser. Who knows?
One of the duds is a refillable butane lighter. It feels nice in my hand but is stubborn with its sparks.
I like to think of them as characters in my own little dresser drama. Each with a story, a purpose, or at least a funny shape.
My dresser might be a bit cluttered. My lighter collection might be a little excessive. But they're all a part of my story.
They're tiny, flickering reminders of moments, people, and places. And that's worth more than a perfectly organized dresser drawer, right?
So next time you see a lighter, don't just think of fire. Think of the stories it might hold.
Think of the concerts, the memories, and the slightly ridiculous banana-shaped flames. You might be surprised what you discover.
And maybe, just maybe, you’ll start your own collection.
