Catfish The Tv Show Artis And Jess

Okay, let's talk Catfish. You know, that show where Nev and Kamie bravely expose people pretending to be someone else online? Sometimes, it’s heartbreaking. Sometimes, it's hilarious. Sometimes, it’s just…weird.
Remember Artis and Jess?
Remember Artis? He thought he was talking to Jess, a gorgeous blonde bombshell. He was smitten. Head-over-heels, the whole shebang.
The Shocking Reveal
Spoiler alert (though, like, come on, it aired years ago): "Jess" wasn't Jess. Surprise! It was Justin, a guy Artis actually knew. Drama!
Now, here's my potentially unpopular opinion. Buckle up.
Unpopular Opinion Time!
I actually felt kind of bad for Justin. Hear me out!
Artis wasn't exactly winning any "best boyfriend" awards. He was talking to other girls online while supposedly devoted to Jess. Double standard, much?
I'm not saying Justin was right to catfish. Catfishing is never cool. But was Artis totally innocent in this whole mess?
Let's Break It Down
Justin clearly had feelings for Artis. Messed up way to show it? Absolutely. But still, feelings. He saw Artis flirting with other women. Under the guise of Jess, he got Artis to show him attention.
Maybe, just maybe, Justin was craving some reciprocation. Was he lonely? Did he feel overlooked?
Again, NOT excusing the catfishing. Just saying, everyone involved had some flaws.
The Face-to-Face
The moment they met face-to-face was awkward. You could cut the tension with a knife. Nev and Kamie did their usual interrogation.
I remember Artis being all righteous indignation. “How could you DO this to me?!”
Dude, you were kind of asking for it! My internal monologue was screaming that. Sorry, not sorry.
Nev and Kamie's Take
Nev and Kamie, bless their hearts, tried to mediate. They always do their best to be impartial. They encouraged Artis and Justin to talk it out.
Did they actually resolve anything? Eh, debatable. It all felt pretty unresolved to me.
Most Catfish episodes end with a "where are they now?" update. Usually, it's vague. Artis and Justin probably went their separate ways.
Final Thoughts
The Catfish show is addictive, right? It’s a car crash you can’t look away from. But in the case of Artis and Jess/Justin, I think it revealed more about Artis than it did about Justin.
Justin was wrong. But Artis? He wasn't a victim in my book. Just a guy who got a taste of his own medicine. Harsh, but true?
Don't @ me. Just sharing my controversial Catfish thoughts!
