Code Geass Akito The Exiled Worth Watching

Okay, let's talk about something a little controversial. Something that might make some Code Geass fans clutch their pearls.
Akito the Exiled: The Underrated Gem?
I'm talking about Akito the Exiled. Yeah, that one. The one everyone seems to forget exists.
Is it just me, or does it get a bad rap? I think it deserves a little love.
A Different Kind of Geass Story
Look, I get it. It's not Lelouch. No one can replace Lelouch. And it's definitely a different vibe.
But maybe that's a good thing! We don't need the same story over and over again. It explores the European theater with different geopolitical plots.
It's like comparing apples and, well, cooler apples with cooler mecha and accents.
The "Meh" Factor
A lot of people say it's slow. That the characters aren't as engaging. Okay, fair enough.
But hasn't every anime got its 'meh' moments? Even Code Geass (the original) had episodes where you just wanted C.C. to eat more pizza and be done with it.
Let's face it, some parts are slower than a snail in molasses. But there is still some cool stuff going on.
The Shiny Stuff: Mecha Battles
The animation is gorgeous. I mean, seriously stunning. The Knightmare Frames look incredible.
The battles are dynamic and intense. Way better than some of the earlier season 1 fights, if I'm being honest. Someone had to say it.
If you're a sucker for shiny robots beating the crap out of each other, Akito delivers. Big time!
The Characters: A Change of Pace
Yeah, Akito isn't Lelouch. He's not a scheming mastermind. He is more of a troubled kid with a dark past.
But isn't that kind of refreshing? We get a different perspective on the Code Geass world.
And Leila Malcal is a great character too! She's trying to do her best in a messed up world.
So, Is It Worth It?
Here's my take: Yes. If you're a die-hard Code Geass fan, give it a shot. Temper your expectations.
Don't expect Lelouch level genius antics. Go in expecting cool mecha, a different story, and some amazing animation.
You might be surprised. You might even, dare I say, enjoy it? Or at least appreciate it.
My Unpopular Opinion...
I think it adds to the Code Geass universe. It expands the world. It shows us there are other stories to be told.
It might not be perfect, but it is definitely worth a watch. Even if it is just to say, "Yeah, I saw Akito the Exiled."
So, go on. Be brave. Watch Akito the Exiled. And then tell me I'm wrong. Or, you know, that I'm secretly right. 😉
