Okay, let's talk Diary of a Wimpy Kid and November.

Specifically, a certain...abstinence challenge.

Rowley Would Never

Picture Rowley Jefferson trying No Nut November. It's comedy gold, right?

He'd probably misunderstand the rules. He'd think it's about avoiding nuts. Like, actual almonds and walnuts.

Then he'd proudly announce his victory on November 2nd because he ate a peanut butter sandwich.

Greg, On the Other Hand...

Greg Heffley? He'd definitely attempt it. Probably for the wrong reasons, though.

Maybe he heard it makes you more popular. Or that it improves your gaming skills.

He'd document every single agonizing day in his diary. Lots of whining would be involved.

"November 1st: This is going to be the longest month of my life. I already feel like I'm missing out on something important."

He'd probably fail spectacularly by, like, November 3rd. Then blame Rowley for distracting him.

He'd definitely try to cover it up. Pretend it never happened. Delete the diary entries. But we'd all know.

Unpopular Opinion Time

Here's my hot take: No Nut November and middle school diaries don't mix. It's just…weird.

These are kids dealing with enough awkwardness. Puberty is brutal enough without adding internet challenges.

Can't we just let Greg worry about the Cheese Touch and middle school dances?

I mean, think about the implications. The psychological impact! Would he even be able to write about his Zoo-Pals?

The Real Challenges

I think Greg should focus on other things in November. Maybe try being nice to Rowley for a whole month.

Or learning how to actually play video games without cheating.

Maybe even try to get Manny to stop calling him "Bubby."

Those are real challenges! The kind that build character. The kind that make for good diary entries.

Not…that kind of challenge.

Ultimately, I think Jeff Kinney made the right call leaving that out. It keeps the books relatable. Keeps them funny. Keeps them appropriate.

Let's keep Diary of a Wimpy Kid focused on the struggles of middle school. The real ones.

Like trying to survive gym class. Or dealing with annoying siblings.

Or figuring out how to ask a girl to the dance without embarrassing yourself completely.

Those are the things that really matter. Those are the things we all remember.

So, let's leave No Nut November out of Westmore Middle School. Deal?
