Ghost In The Shell Arise 3

Okay, let's talk Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Border 3: Ghost Tears. Or as I like to call it, "The One Where Things Get...Complicated."
So, About Border 3...
I know, I know. People have opinions. Strong opinions. About Arise in general, and Border 3 specifically.
But hear me out. Maybe, just maybe, it's...underrated? I said it! Don't @ me.
Batou's Feelings, Man
This is where things get real. We see a different side of Batou. He's all conflicted and broody.
It's like, he's having an existential crisis about his cybernetic enhancements AND his feelings for Motoko. Talk about a Monday!
Seriously, who hasn't been there? Okay, maybe not the cyborg part. But the questioning your life choices part? Definitely.
The Murky Mystery
The whole smuggling case? Yeah, it's convoluted. Like trying to assemble IKEA furniture without the instructions.
But isn't that kind of the point of Ghost in the Shell? Things aren't supposed to be easy. They're supposed to make you think (and maybe scratch your head a little).
I get why some folks find it confusing. But I kinda dig the layers. It's like an onion. A very cyberpunk onion.
The Art Style
The animation in Arise is sleek. Super sleek. Some prefer the classic Oshii style, I know.
But I appreciate the visual update. It's like giving your favorite old car a fresh coat of paint.
Plus, the fight scenes are still top-notch. Motoko kicking butt in high-definition? Yes, please!
The Unpopular Opinion Part
Here it comes. The part where I probably lose half of you. I actually *like* the Arise version of Batou and Motoko's relationship more.
In the original, it's more subtle. Here? They're practically flirting with deadly weapons.
It's fun to watch them awkwardly navigate their feelings while simultaneously taking down bad guys. It's like a rom-com... with cyborgs.
It's Not Perfect, But...
Look, I'm not saying Border 3 is a masterpiece. It has flaws. It's a bit slow in places. The plot could be tighter.
But it adds something to the Ghost in the Shell universe. It gives us a glimpse into the characters' early days. Before they were the legends we know and love.
And that's worth something, right? Even if it means wading through a slightly confusing plot.
Give it Another Shot?
So, maybe, just maybe, give Ghost in the Shell: Arise - Border 3: Ghost Tears another watch. Go in with an open mind.
Maybe you'll still hate it. That's okay! But maybe, just maybe, you'll see something you missed before.
And if not, well, at least you got to see Batou be all angsty. Which, let's be honest, is kind of hilarious.
Don't be afraid to be a little outside of the norm.
