God Of War Getting The Blades Of Chaos

Let's talk about God of War. Specifically, let's dish about those iconic Blades of Chaos. You know, the fiery, chained swords of doom? Yeah, those bad boys.
Remember when Kratos got them back in the Norse saga? It was a *moment*. A real pants-soiling, "oh crap, things are about to get real" kind of moment.
But here's a confession: I wasn't *entirely* thrilled. Prepare for unpopular opinions, folks!
The Axe Was Just... Nicer
Look, I get it. The Blades of Chaos are classic Kratos. They're practically synonymous with his rage and destruction.
But the Leviathan Axe? Man, that thing was a masterpiece. The weight, the throw, the satisfying *thunk* as it returned... poetry!
Maybe I'm just getting old. Maybe I prefer calculated strikes to mindless flailing. Sue me.
Nostalgia is a Powerful Drug
Okay, okay, I understand the nostalgia factor. Seeing Kratos wield those blades again tugged at the heartstrings. It reminded us of the good ol' days of Greek-era carnage.
And let's be honest, it looked freakin' awesome. That initial burst of flames? Goosebumps.
But did we *need* them? That's the question I kept asking myself.
Gameplay Implications
The Blades of Chaos definitely spiced up the combat. They offered a faster, more aggressive playstyle. This was a great way to diversify strategies.
But they also made the Leviathan Axe feel...underwhelming, sometimes. Suddenly, my trusty axe felt like a backup weapon.
It felt like a step backwards. I spent so long mastering the Axe’s intricacies!
Thematic Resonance? Maybe.
I get the narrative reasoning. Kratos needed to confront his past. He needed to embrace his inner rage to protect Atreus. The return of the Blades symbolized that perfectly.
But couldn’t he have done that with a really, really angry speech? Or, I don't know, by throwing the Leviathan Axe *really* hard?
I'm just saying, maybe we could've explored new ways to deal with the character progression. Without reverting to the old weaponry.
Am I Wrong? Probably.
Look, I know I'm probably in the minority here. People love the Blades of Chaos. They're a symbol of Kratos's journey.
And I'm not saying they're *bad*. They just didn't click with me as much as the Leviathan Axe did in the Norse setting.
But the feeling of throwing the Leviathan Axe and summoning it back is what define the Norse saga for me. I miss that.
The Future is Unwritten
Who knows what the future holds for Kratos? Maybe he'll ditch the Blades again. Maybe he'll find a new, even cooler weapon. Perhaps a giant hammer?
All I know is, I'll be there, controller in hand, ready to smash some mythological faces. Even if he uses those fiery blades.
Just... maybe give the axe some love too, okay?
Just my two cents. Don't @ me.
