Mac Lethal Kansas City Chiefs Anthem 2020

Okay, hear me out. I have a confession. It involves football, rap, and a certain Midwest city.

Mac Lethal and That Chiefs Anthem...

Remember that Mac Lethal 2020 Chiefs anthem? The one that was everywhere? Yeah, that one.

It was catchy, right? High-energy, definitely. It pumped you up before the game.

But...and this is a big but... I'm not totally sold. Prepare for possible outrage!

Don't get me wrong, Mac Lethal is talented. Seriously talented. The guy can rap faster than I can fumble a football.

And the song definitely had a Chiefs kingdom vibe. You felt the energy, the excitement. You wanted to paint your face red and gold and scream!

However… I'm not sure it's the *best* Chiefs anthem ever.

It’s Just…Different

Maybe it's because I'm old school. Maybe I like my football anthems a little… less… intense?

I think I liked his other songs better. Remember the Kansas City Love Song, the one about the BBQ, the fountains, and everything we love in KC?

That song just felt...authentic. More Kansas City, less just football.

The Chiefs anthem felt a little forced. A little too…hype-man-ish? Like it was *trying* to be an anthem.

“Not saying it’s bad! Just saying… maybe it’s trying too hard?”

Look, I understand the need for hype. Especially when you’re about to watch Patrick Mahomes work his magic. But sometimes, less is more.

It’s Like…

It's like that overly enthusiastic friend. The one who's *always* amped up? It can be exhausting.

Sometimes you just want to chill. Maybe listen to some classic rock while you grill some brats. Maybe a good country song.

Is that sacrilege in the Chiefs kingdom? Probably. Am I okay with it? Mostly.

Don't get me wrong, I still appreciate Mac Lethal. The man is a lyrical genius. And he clearly loves Kansas City.

I’m just wondering if the anthem really captured the soul of the city.

Maybe It’s Me

Perhaps I’m just being a contrarian. Maybe I’m intentionally seeking out the unpopular opinion.

It’s entirely possible that I just don’t understand the nuances of modern football anthems. I mean, I still rock out to "We Are the Champions".

And maybe, just maybe, I'm a little jealous I didn't write it!

So, there it is. My possibly controversial, probably wrong, definitely subjective take on Mac Lethal's Chiefs anthem.
