That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime Scarlet Bonds

Okay, real talk about That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Scarlet Bond.
Remember that movie? Yeah, the one where our favorite slime, Rimuru, faces off against a new, vaguely threatening bad guy.
I know, I know, everyone was hyped. But hear me out.
It Was… Fine.
Don't get me wrong. I love Slime. I really do.
But Scarlet Bond felt... like a really long, slightly-above-average episode. Anyone else feel that?
The animation was great, sure. Rimuru's voice actor always delivers.
Hiiro, the Dragon's Brother: Friend or Foe?
The new character, Hiiro, was... there. Another ogre with a tragic backstory. Groundbreaking.
His motivations felt a little flimsy, honestly. Like, "Oh, my sister got hurt, so I'm gonna wreck everything!"
Deep, right? I needed more motivation from Hiiro.
It's like they threw a dart at a "tragic anime backstory" dartboard and just went with whatever it landed on.
The whole "scarlet bond" thing sounded cool, but did it really *mean* anything?
The Action Was... Predictable.
Look, I’m not expecting Attack on Titan levels of suspense. But the fights felt... choreographed.
Rimuru absorbs the bad guy, uses a new ability, wins. Rinse and repeat.
Where's the tension? I needed more stakes, more suspense!
I’m not saying it was *bad*. Just that it lacked the charm and excitement of the main series.
Maybe I’m just spoiled by the high quality of the show.
The Real Star: The Townsfolk (and Gobta).
Honestly, my favorite parts were the little moments with the citizens of Tempest. They are adorable!
Gobta being a goofball? Always a win. Love him!
Those small moments truly shine and bring out the best in Slime.
The world-building is still top-notch. Tempest is still the coolest place to live in any anime.
Unpopular Opinion Time
Okay, brace yourselves. I think Scarlet Bond is the weakest piece of Slime content so far.
There, I said it. Ready for the pitchforks.
It's not *terrible*. Just... unremarkable. Is unremarkable okay for Slime?
Compared to the main series, it felt a bit... bland. The bar is set high.
I still love Rimuru. I still love Tempest. I just wanted more from the movie.
Maybe I wanted to see Rimuru and Hiiro's relationship to grow stronger as allies and friends.
Final Verdict: Worth a Watch? Sure.
Will I rewatch it? Probably not. But would I tell someone not to watch it? No.
It's more Slime. And more Slime is generally a good thing. Just don't expect to be blown away.
Maybe my expectations were too high, and I apologize for my 'unpopular' opinion of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Scarlet Bonds.
Go watch it and see for yourself. You might love it! And then you can tell me I'm wrong.
